Acne is a well-known and well researched condition and has been for years yet the dermatological world still disagrees on exactly what causes acne and how it can be cured. Patients all over the world are still being handed treatments that are sub-optimal for getting rid of acne. Drugs like roaccutane that clearly do not attack the root cause are being used as a way of covering over acne. This article is my thoughts on why this is irresponsible and how we should be looking for more holistic methods to remove the cause rather than simply covering up the symptoms. Whilst not all dermatologists would agree, I’m pretty convinced from years and years of experimentation and research that acne has a definite correlation with toxicity in the body. What I mean by that is aE” when toxicity levels are high, you’ve got more chance of having spots or other bad skin conditions. The reason why it’s so hard to treat acne is because the cause of elevated toxicity in the blood is so widespread. For instance someone may have high toxicity in the blood from their diet aE” perhaps they’re eating foods that they are mildly allergic to, while another person may have high toxicity in the blood from a mercury tooth filling. There isn’t a test that can be done that will tell you for sure where your toxicity is coming from.

A blood test is the closest thing, and whilst that might act as a useful indicator for some people, it won’t reveal enough information to help everybody. So the only way you can figure out where your toxicity is coming from is by trial and elimination and some people just don’t want to spend that time and effort getting those results aE” they want a magic pill. I think this is why most doctors and dermatologists are more than happy to simply dish out a bucket load of drugs and try to cover up the problem. The problem is that a lot of these drugs cover up the acne but don’t address the root cause. As with any problem, this is not the best way of tackling it aE” it will keep coming back until you address it properly. One example of not addressing the root cause properly is accutane. Accutane is a drug that was launched by Roche a number of years ago and has had considerable success in curing people’s acne. However, it works (at a high level) by drying out the skin aE” killing off the oil producing glands. This is a very dangerous way of curing acne. Your body is excreting toxins through the skin because it’s struggling to remove them all internally aE” if you don’t allow the toxins to be excreted through the skin then it’s going to have a massive impact on the filtering organs such as the liver and kidneys. So much so that they could even become damaged, and in some cases permanently.

The toxic build up internally could account for the long list of crazy side effects that Accutane can give. Depression, muscle pain, headaches, nausea aE” all of these are associated with elevated toxic build up. I had terrible acne when I was a youngster but I set about curing it myself through holistic ways. It was a case of trial and error, finding out what worked and what didn’t but in the end it came good and now I’ve been acne clear for over 6 years. What’s more, I understand what’s going on inside, I listen to my body and give it what its asking for.

What makes it even more difficult is that one person may have organs in the body that are far better at filtering toxins than others.

It’s a genetic trait, it’s subjective and there’s not much you can do about how good your liver is at filtering the bloodstream. So How do we get Clear Skin?
