Facial Hair Waxing
For women everywhere the presence of facial hair can be a huge embarrassment. The desire for facial hair removal is so strong that women try almost any means that promises an end to this masculine feature. Sugaring is becoming a popular alternative to waxing, which can cause redness and bumps on the skin. This method involves placing a syrup ball, made of sugar, water and lemon juice, onto the skin and then quickly striping it back off. The striping motion removes the hair by the root. Sugaring is also a good alternative for anyone who has had burned skin due to wax that was applied while it was too hot.
Shaving with a regular razor is one of the most common methods by men but not so much by women. The big advantage of shaving is that it is cheap and quick. The downside of it is that you are more prone to cuts and razor burns. To add to the misery you would have to shave on a daily basis in order to keep the hair away.
Use depilatory creams, gels or lotions. These contain a chemical that alters the structure of the hair and so makes it much more easy to remove. These are certainly one of the cheapest ways for the removal of facial hair. Not only is it inexpensive, it can also be done in the privacy of your own home and is usually pain free. However, the disadvantages for using this method are that the effects are very short lived (often only lasting for several days) and it can cause irritation or even burning to a person’s skin.
The road to FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval for any drug is a long drawn out process which takes years. This of course is for the public’s protection to make as certain as possible there are no undesirable serious side effects.
Waxing Or Sugaring
This method of unwanted facial hair removal is extremely popular as it is quite inexpensive and easy to do at home. Numerous waxing or sugaring kits are available on the market, some with ingredients to soothe the skin and minimize redness, especially appropriate for the facial areas.
The hot wax is applied to the area where hair has to be removed. The applied wax is then pulled in the opposite direction of hair growth taking the hair along with it. The results last for 4 to 6 weeks, but there is a possibility of skin burning or redness and bumps seen on the skin.
Electrolysis – This method is permanent but can be expensive and time consuming. The method basically burns the hair root and therefore the hair can’t come back. It will take several sessions to make sure all of the roots are destroyed.
A laser beam used to get rid of hair by destroying the hair at its base. A dermatologist does the procedure. It is probably the most expensive way to get rid of hair. In the future, it may become a permanent way to remove facial hair. Laser hair removal can also cause burns and color changes in the skin. A skin cream called Vaniqa can decrease hair growth.
