Can A Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment Loose Its Strength?

I’ve been using the clean & clear advantage spot for about 2 years now, and ive never purchased a new tube. Recently it seems as if, instead of clearing up my occasional breakouts, it’s making them worse! I’m wondering if this could be happening because the tube is worn out and the has lost its ‘acidity’.

    HELLO THERE DUWOPPER,
The 1st thing I want you to do is check the package for an expiration date to see if the product is still “in code”…in other words has the shelf life expired?? Did you know that an old medication that has been around for 2 years can change chemically?? Well it can…..and I am thinking that is what has happened to your product. It is probably no good so you should throw it away and buy something New……….
Maybe you should try the Pro-Active that is advertised on TV.
I hear it is excellent. I want to wish you the best of luck with your predicament and may God bless and keep you safe.

    Basic Acne Treatments Product Ingredients
    Salicylic Acid:
    * There is ample evidence that salicylic acid is your best attack on acne
    * Salicylic acid reduces the number of primary lesions and therefore the number and severity of all lesions associated with acne.
    * Salicylic acid is safe even on darker skin
    * As the first step in treating acne – salicylic acid is proven to be safe and effective.
    Glycolic Acid:
    * Glycolic acid is one of the most widely used of the broadly popular alpha hydroxyl acids, as an efficacious chemical peel.
    * Even in strong concentrations, it has few negative side effects.
    * Long-term daily use of low-strength glycolic acid products may also have some useful effects on scars
    * Glycolic also makes the skin more resistant to attack from ultraviolet light (thus reducing the impact of photo-aging), improves its moisture retention, and, perhaps for the same reasons, improves its general condition.
    * Glycolic acid, used alone, is fairly effective against acne, and (even at much higher concentrations than recommended) is safe, however, by itself, it is not a complete solution and does work best as part of a skin care regime.
    Benzoyl Peroxide (BP):
    * Benzoyl peroxide has been known as a effect treatment’ for acne. In the 1930’s it was a leading treatment for skin care, but since then science and the understanding of skin care has come a long way to create better treatments.
    * Benzoyl peroxide has been classified by the FDA as ’safety unknown’ due to scientific studies, click here to learn more.
    * You can find several celebrity endorsed products and web sites devoted to the benefits of acne products containing Benzoyl Peroxide
    * Beside its antibacterial activity, BP also seems to have an anti-oxidant impact.
    * Some users of Benzoyl peroxide experience side effects of dry or irritated skin
